40 km of festivities created for
volunteers and local inhabitants

Dear volunteers, dear inhabitants of the Espace Mont-Blanc,
You have been sharing this incredible adventure, which is the UTMB®, with us for 15 years. Whatever the conditions, we have always been able to count on your enthusiasm and the welcome you have given to the thousands of runners who have come to participate in the world summit of trail-running. Over the years, it has become a big family and the idea of a race which would be devoted to you has germinated within the organisation. Today, this has been achieved. A race of 40 km with 2300 m of ascent, with a start from Martigny-Combe and a finish in Chamonix, is waiting for you! Like its elders, its initials are 3 letters : MCC. It is fully integrated into the UTMB® festivities, like its elders, with a start on Monday, August 27th at 08:00. Here is how you can take part in the first MCC.

Who can register for the MCC?

The volunteers
That is to say, those who were volunteers in a significant manner during the 2017 UTMB®.

Local runners

Runners refused due to the 2018 draw
If there are any remaining places after the registration of volunteers and inhabitants of the Espace Mont-Blanc, runners who were refused due to the 2018 draw may register for the MCC.

When to register for MCC?

Volunteers and local runners
Registration will be open from March 23rd 2018 until April 2nd 2018. Attention ! You must respect the time period mentioned above, no dispensation will be accorded in the case of delay or of an oversight.

Runners refused due to the 2018 draw
Registration will be open for 24 hours. It will take place on April 13th via the website

How to register for the MCC?

You must contact the person responsible for your post or the UTMB® organisation before the registration period. You will then receive an individual code which will allow you register directly and at a preferential tariff . This code is valid during the registration period of March 23rd 2018 to April 2nd 2018.

Local runners
You have the possibility of registering between March 23rd 2018 and April 2nd 2018. You will have to give your post-code when registering. Proof of residence will be demanded in order to validate your registration. In the case of a false declaration, falsified proof of residence or a downright lie, the organisation will cancel your registration without reimbursing the registration fee.

Runners refused due to the 2018 draw

There will be no draw for registering for the MCC. Places will be open to all runners who were refused by the draw within the limit of the available places . Attention ! Why this race ?

« Behind this new race, is the wish to give additional sense to the volunteers commitment and also the desire to allow local runners to appreciate the event which takes place on their doorsteps, while also giving a warm welcome to the thousands of runners who cross the world to come and run in the Mont-Blanc country at the end of August.  By giving these runners, who are either volunteers or locals, the possibility of being a runner we would like to share, even more, the emotion and joy of participating in this great festive event. In order to ensure that this experience is a success, this race will be organised with the same care and attention to detail as all the other UTMB® events, and, on all the same levels », confides Catherine Poletti.

The route

The route is over a distance of 40 km with an ascent of 2300 metres. The runners leave from Martigny-Croix, crossing through the commune of Martigny-Combe notably by passing via Plan-Cerisier (an important national site) to reach the Col de la Forclaz then go along the bisse du Trient before climbing up to the Col de Balme via Les Grands. The descent to Chamonix leads the trail-runners through all the Chamonix Valley hamlets. The race will take place in semi-autonomy and must be run within a maximum of 10 hours.

See you soon,
